At The Hills of Carmel, we take pride in creating a vibrant and interconnected community supported by schools, community shopping center and parklands.
That’s why our local developers, Daiwa House and Odakyu, are proud to support Box Hill Public School with a $32,000 cash donation that has enabled the school to invest in much needed books, sporting equipment, and learning resources which are invaluable in properly engaging and developing the curiosity and growth of the school’s pupils ranging from Kindy through to Year 6.
A SPECIAL DAY AT BOX HILL PUBLIC SCHOOL
On Tuesday 19th August 2025, our team had the privilege of being invited to join the School to celebrate Book Week with the schools’ students, their parents and guardians and the overly enthusiastic teachers and staff.
Students filled the quadrangle dressed as their favourite book characters, as did the teachers, and paraded their costumes class by class and grade by grade. The costumes ranged from superheroes, Harry Potter, sporting stars, rainbows, bumble bees, the Mad Hatter, Sherlock Homes and even (ourselves) as Bob the Builders.
Amongst the Book Week celebrations, Mrs Melanie Mackie (Principal), warmly welcomed our team and spoke about the positive impact the donation will have on student learning. She highlighted how the new resources the School was able to generate with our generous donation will enhance classrooms, encourage active play, and inspire a love of learning across all year levels.
“We are incredibly grateful for Daiwa House’s generous gift to the future of Box Hill Primary School. It is our vision to create an environment where all students are encouraged to reach their personal best, supported by only the best teaching practices and learning materials. Through Daiwa House’s support, we can now provide our students with valuable STEM kits and additional resources to support their academic growth. We aim to be a school where every child feels valued, nurtured, included and empowered to succeed, and we are so pleased that Daiwa House is supporting us in this vision”.

BUILDING FUTURES TOGETHER
Speaking on behalf of The Hills of Carmel, Mr Hiroki Sakashita, Project, Sales and Marketing Manager – Box Hill Projects, shared why giving back is central to our values:
“It was moving to see the faces of the students as they realised the new equipment was for them. This initiative is more than a financial contribution, it’s about empowering the next generation through education. As part of the Box Hill community, we’re proud to support our local school and help lay the foundations for their future.”
The celebration continued with a performance from the school choir (ray of sunshine) and ‘open classroom’ sessions, which enabled parents and carers including ourselves the opportunity to view completed works from the students ranging from Kindy to Year 5/6.
LOOKING AHEAD
We are a committed and invested developer in The Hills of Carmel and this donation is a small token back to the community that we have been creating lot by lot since 2018 and we are invested in the district until at least 2028-2030.
We are invested in the success of the Hills of Carmel ensuring the connectivity between purchasers with their acquired land lots, construction of their new homes, and their settlement in the community and their ability to access a neighborhood shopping centre, local schools (primary and high schools), parks, sporting ventures, bike paths and pathways.
